A daily meditation practice helps me stay sane. I love to meditate first thing in the morning before the busyness of the day. When I want to work on changing something specific within myself I practice a meditation for what I am trying to achieve for a period of 40, 90 or 120 days. I have done a 1000 day practice once and it changed me on many levels.

There are many references to 40-day practices throughout different cultures. In Kundalini yoga practicing a kriya (series of exercises) or meditation for 40 days is said to help break a negative habit and/or introduce a positive habit.

You can also practice the kriya or mediation longer than 40 days for the following benefits:

90 days creates a new habit in your conscious and subconscious minds based on the effect of the kriya or meditation changing you at a deep level.

120 days confirms the new habit and benefits of the kriya or meditation get integrated permanently into your psyche.

1000 days allows you to master the new habit.

In order for the days to count, you must practice every day. If you miss a day you start again at day one.

To help track your days I created tracking sheets that you can download.
