When Garuda (Eagle), was born he came out of a huge egg. He was said to be as radiant as a million suns. This scared the Gods who begged him to reduce himself in power and size, which he did.
One day Garuda’s mother was held captive by serpents and they would not release her unless Garuda brought them a cup of immortal nectar. The immortal nectar was at the top of a high mountain and to get there Garuda needed to pass three obstacles, a ring of fire, a circular door with spikes and 2 venomous snakes.
In order to pass through these obstacles Garuda had to call upon his divine powers. He was then able to get the nectar and save his mother.
When faced with obstacles we too need to remember our divine nature.
